School Closings

Please do not call the central office to confirm closings. When school must depart from the normal operating schedule due to an emergency or inclement weather, the public will be notified by an announcement over the broadcast stations listed below. Additionally we will make an announcement on the Instant Alert system and will place an announcement on the home page of the MCPS website.

Radio Stations:

WXGM Radio 99.1 FM (Gloucester)
WRAR Radio 105.5 FM (Tappahannock)
WNNT Radio 100.9 FM (Warsaw)
WKWI Radio 101.7 (Kilmarnock)
Windy 104.9 (Urbanna)

TV Stations:

WTKR TV Channel 3 (Hampton Roads)
WTVR TV Channel 6 (Richmond)
WRIC TV Channel 8 (Richmond)
WAVY TV Channel 10 (Hampton Roads)
WWBT TV Channel 12 (Richmond)

CODES:
Code 0: No personnel will report to work.
Code 1: All essential personnel will report to work on time.
Code 2: All essential personnel will report to work by 11:00 AM.
Code 3: All personnel, including teachers and other resource personnel, will report to schools for in-service training or other work activities by 10:00 am.

Essential personnel includes all 11 and 12 month employees, unless notified otherwise by your direct supervisor.
